The rookie session saw those that threw down the best tricks invited into either Nico’s blue team or Zoi’s red team. Needless to say, the rookies were giving it everything they had.
“It’s a real good vibe here with the start of winter, and having a rail jam is always a good way to kick it off," said Zoi. "You feed from everyone you ride with, and it’s all in good fun with your friends.”
Riders were scored on tricks and style, assisted by judges and local legends Byron Wells and Nick Hyne. One winner of each round advanced to the next one.
After a remarkable performance from local legends of various ages, two rookies in each team were drafted into a total team of eight, and the competition was underway.
In the end it was Nico’s blue team who triumphed, sending an epic team victory lap to wrap up the night.
