Pure Encapsulations held off Kolland Topsport Professional and Kleine Zeitung Panaceo Martini Sportswear to clinch their third title at the 30th edition of Red Bull Dolomitenmann.
Athletes have covered a lot of ground since the Dolomitenmann began, 30 long editions ago. The concept is simple: four members of a team each contest a leg in a relay race. The first athlete runs from the centre of Lienz up 1,800m to the Kühbodentörl, the second paragliding from there (or, as with this year because of the weather, the Moosalm) to Lienz's Dolomiten Stadium. A third man then mountain bikes back up 1,500m to the Hochsteinkreuz before, finally, the fourth team member drops into the Drava River in a kayak and fights the whitewater before running (with their kayak) over the finish line. We're exhausted just thinking about it.
The 2017 anniversary edition was a closely-fought event. After almost four hours of racing, the top three teams finished within three minutes of each other. Watch the clip at the top of this page for the action, and see photos in the gallery below from each crazy stage.
