Snowmobile freestyle has crossed a new threshold after Swedish maestro Daniel Bodin has become the world's first person to land the holy grail of FSX tricks — the double backflip.
Watch Bodin land the world-first trick in the above and take a look at the huge trick from another angle in the video below.
I did it! I can’t believe I did it! The rush! It just can’t be described — nobody in this world can understand the feeling. I’ve nurtured the dream about nailing this trick more than two years.
The double backflip earned a reputation as the holy grail of snowmobile freestyle tricks back when Levi LaVallee attempted (but failed to land) the trick at X Games in 2009. Then in 2011, Justin Hoyer crashed during a new attempt at Winter X Games. That left the trick unclaimed until Bodin decided to stomp it.
Although the pressure on rivals Colten Moore and Heath Frisby to now deliver the double backflip at X Games 2017 is higher after Bodin's successful achievement, the Swede says he won't bring the trick to the event this weekend.
I have focused so hard on the double in the past months. Everything else was put on hold. Now I’m looking forward to X Games and a chance to ride the Freestyle and Best Trick competitions with an easy mind. I hope I still can surprise.
