Held annually at the start of January deep within the Scottish Highlands, the Strathpuffer is rapidly gaining a reputation as being one of the toughest 24-hour mountain bike races on the calendar.
With daylight and temperatures above zero in equally short supply, we set out to discover just what it is about this wintry beast that keeps people coming back for more.
