Landlocked, mountainous Switzerland isn't the first place you'd think of as producing a world class up-and-coming kitesurfing talent, but that hasn't stopped Swiss native Camille Losserand from soaring to the top the sport in the space of a few short years.
Camille first discovered kitesurfing in 2016 during a trip to Hyères-Almannare in the south of France and, in her own words, "After this, my mind was only thinking about one thing and you know what it is."
From then on every family vacation revolved around travels to discover the windy coastal destinations kitesurfers need in places like Mauritius, Morocco, Greece, Egypt and more. All to sate Camille's passion for the sport, which became even stronger after she first tried strapless riding in 2019.
The problem for Camille was Switzerland. Living there just didn't allow her to ride as often as she wanted to and limited her ability to improve at the speed she wanted. So, after attending a few of six-time world champion Fabio Ingrosso's Above The Water camps – where she ticked-off a list of tricks she'd been aiming for – she made the move to split her time between home and kitesurfing hotspot Tarifa in Spain – officially in the top 10 windiest places in Europe.
That move was the key which pushed Camille's kitesurfing to the next level and big results in contests soon followed to mark her out as rising talent to watch, including four Spanish Championship titles in a row from 2021 to 2025, the 2021 Junior World Championships crown, the Big Air world title in 2023 and numerous GKA World Tour podium finishes.
With her star firmly on the rise, the sky's the limit for Camille Losserand on the ocean – literally.
