With three top-10 finishes in four starts – her best being a seventh place in Northern Ireland two years ago – the 23-time Swiss national champion at lower heights has begun to build a solid career from the 21 m platform.
After a decade of success from the springboard, she was inspired to set her sights higher after watching a video about the history of cliff diving in her country.
First up was the World Aquatics High Diving World Championships in Fukuoka in 2023, before a creditable 11th-place finish in the 2024 edition in Doha earned her an invite to the World Series event in Boston that summer.
After placing 11th once again in the USA stop, Herculano then overcame the rough Northern Ireland coast, before rounding out her debut season with a 10th-place finish in Montreal.
In 2025, her one and only appearance saw her land in eighth place in Polignano a Mare.
The 26-year-old, who holds a degree in Economics and a secondary in Energy and Environment from Harvard – where she also won the Ivy League title in 1m springboard – admits she first started diving as a kid so she could learn how to back-flip and impress the boys at the outdoor poor: “I wanted to do something that would make everyone say ‘wow’.”
These days, she blends her work as an athlete with her blossoming social media business, where she’s currently inspiring around 300,000 followers daily. She says, “I want to show people they can be everything: courageous and delicate, sexy and smart, athletic and intellectual.”
As for competition, Herculano gets back to business when she returns to the 21 m platform at the 2026 season opener in Bali.
