Finding the motivation to slide into a 5/4mm hooded wetsuit and paddle into a hardy winter swell has never been a problem for Sanoa Olin. Born into a family of surfers on the rugged coastline of Tofino, British Columbia, she's a product of her environment and cold water surfing is all she knows.
A few years later, Olin would follow in her sister’s footsteps and earn the ‘Princess of the Peak’ title at Vancouver Island’s Queen of The Peak competition at just 10 years old. Then, by the age of 12, she would raise the bar even higher, becoming the youngest female surfer to win the Tofino Rip Curl Pro.
This ability to shred well beyond her years has characterised her career ever since. Olin consistently stands atop the podium at national surf competitions, and became only the second Canadian female surfer to ever win a Qualifying Series event in the World Surf League and finished in 2nd place at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile. In 2024, Sanoa won the WSL World Junior Tour.
With some incredible achievements in her career to date, it's just the beginning for Sanoa. Soon -- if not already -- the name Sanoa Olin will be synonymous with surfing greatness.
