Born in Cairo in 1995, Yehia El-Deraa is a rising star of Egypt's burgeoning handball scene.
He honed his skills as a youngster with Cairo’s multi-disciplinary Heliopolis Sporting Club before turning out for Egyptian Handball League outfit Al Ahly in 2016–2017 and Danish club Ribe-Esbjerg HH in 2017–2018.
After that El-Deraa played a starring role back home for Zamalek SC Handball during a glittering four-year spell for the Giza-based club that saw him win four league titles, two Egyptian Super Cups and two African Champions League crowns.
El-Deraa was also a member of the Egyptian national team squads that won three African Men's Handball Championships in 2016, 2020 and 2022.
All those accolades earned him a high-profile move to Hungarian club Telekom Veszprém in 2022, so watch this space for more big wins from the Egyptian left back.
