Gaming
Fortunately, the list below can help you get started with a few suggestions of the finest and why those protagonists would make for such fitting company.
Lara Croft
Let’s start off with one of the most obvious on this list, not only is Lara Croft a fascinating character, she also has a long list of survival skills certain to come in handy in this environment. Lara has one exceptional quality that makes her ideal for this list, she is an archaeologist. Archaeology may not seem like something that is particularly essential to survival, but as an added bonus, who wouldn’t want to learn some new things about the surrounding rocks. If you are lucky enough, perhaps a mystery awaits?
Nathan Drake
Nathan is a fantastic fellow to have around, his upbeat personality and clear likeness of Firefly star, Nathan Fillion are reason enough to enjoy his company. The thing that makes him a perfect fit for this list is his thirst for adventure and ability to turn an ordinary train into an unforgettable moment that makes him a fantastic choice as a companion on this desert island or dare I say, land full of undiscovered stories.
Cid
For those out there that are not fans of Final Fantasy, Cid may not be a character you are too familiar with, so allow me the chance to introduce him. Cid is one of the constants in the Final Fantasy universe and as is iconic as a Chocobo. Cid uses science to do amazing things. The thing that separates Cid from any other inventor is that the world works around him and even on a desert island Cid would do amazing things.
Deckard Cain
Deckard Cain may be an unlikely choice but let me explain it a little to you. Deckard is probably the greatest source of lore that exists in gaming. Sure, it may be full of evils and horrors, but he likely has far more interesting and pleasant stories up his sleeves too. If you are trapped alone with nothing to do, perhaps it’d be great to slow down, smell the roses and stay a while and listen.
Aloy
Perhaps you have a fine sense for adventure, a perfect memory to tell fantastic tales, but perhaps feeding yourself is of the greatest concern. Well, I for one, think you would struggle to do better than a hunter that hunts robot dinosaurs. You would be eating well and fear nothing in your environment.
Bayonetta
As far as the arcane goes, Bayonetta is probably not the first one that comes to mind, but if you really consider it, would you really want to be with Jennifer here? She would have you doing her bidding the entire time. Would you really want old man Merlin around having you mess around with lakes and stones? Probably not. Bayonetta is more of a combatant than anything else, but her magic prowess will do naught but amaze and although she may be as dominant and powerful as anyone else, she is undeniably good and that goes a long way in the world of wizards and warlocks.
Ignis Scientia
If you were to tell me that Ignis was your favourite Final Fantasy character of all Final Fantasy characters I would say, “good choice.” Ignis is the best chocobro, fight me. Ignis also boasts one thing that very few characters in all games can do as well, his ability to cook the finest of meals. I can see it now, walking along the beach as you contemplate life, deep in solace and out of nowhere – “That’s it!” And next thing you know you will be feasting on a delicacy.
Link
Well with all this Final Fantasy going around it’s only fair we include the second best JRPG of all time, Zelda. We shall include Link from Twilight Princess. Link is one of the few impressive protagonists I could find that boasted an intimate knowledge of agriculture. Farmer Link would do well keeping you safe and nourished in these hard times. Maybe an Ignis-Link crossover is required.
Dandelion
Although the Witcher 3 would suggest that Dandelion isn’t the finest of bards, he is certainly the finest of bros. Dandelion is the one person you never second guess, never doubt, never wonder if he would possibly betray you. He is here due to his musical prowess though, because if the Witcher series has taught us anything, its that Geralt has bad taste because that man can make a catchy tune… “Toss a coin to your witcher oh valley of pleeeeenty.”
Minecraft Steve
Let’s assume for a moment that each of the characters on this list are capable of engaging with their environment just as if they were in their home game. Minecraft Steve is the perfect possible companion. This man could have you set up with a home, fireplace, farm, castle, water feature etc in no time… Seriously imagine how much you could build in 24 hours of Minecraft. Unbeatable.
No contest Minecraft Steve is the MVP.
