An initiative of Red Bull Music and Tall Racks Records, Lift As You Rise gave artists from around the continent the opportunity to submit their own 16 bars to tracks that already featured verses by Nasty C, Tellaman, Gemini Major, Rowlene, Lastee and Zino D. 11 artists were chosen and the result is the 6-track Lift As You Rise EP.
Featuring Deekay_Did_It and KDaVine from Pietermaritzburg, Hanna, J_Reagz and Tembisile from Cape Town, Msimisis from Swaziland, Priscilla from Botswana, The Real Barry Lane from Nigeria, ThatoJessica and Flow Jones Jnr from Johannesburg and Jay Hoodsa from Pretoria, the musical journey of these artists has forever been positively altered thanks to their collaboration with the established artists in the Tall Racks camp.
"I have always been passionate about nurturing young talent and I was thrilled to be a part of an initiative that aims to do just that. I got to meet and work with some of the most beautiful and talented individuals on the continent and learned just as much from them as they learned from me" says Rowlene of the experience of working with the upcoming artists featured.

A different approach to collaboration, Lift As You Rise was born from Red Bull Music’s mission to let listeners experience music like never before by bringing fresh collaborations with rising talent and South Africa’s biggest hip-hop artists.
On being part of Lift As You Rise, Priscilla says that “[it] has given me so much to build my career and an opportunity to network with talented and amazing people. [It’s] a beautiful and unique initiative to uplift upcoming artists, to give a platform to talent and it’s also a way of making music with established artists and fresh talent.”
If there is one thing Lift As You Rise sought to impart to the budding musicians we worked with, it was that as a collective so much can be achieved in comparison to working alone.
Lastee
The first single from the Lift As You Rise EP is Lastee and Rowlene’s track “Afraid” which features Priscilla and The Real Barry Lane, who says that “being a part of Lift As You Rise has been a mind-blowing experience. Being able to share my emotions in song with people that appreciate music, has been the highlight of the entire experience.”
“If there is one thing Lift As You Rise sought to impart to the budding musicians we worked with, it was that as a collective so much can be achieved in comparison to working alone. Nothing highlights the importance of collaboration in the music industry more than this,” adds Lastee.
