Coming out of the eastern side of Johannesburg, Raphael and Antony Mabaso coined the name Infinite Boys having realized that their musical creativity has no end. The brothers always had a passion for music, which led them to pursue dj'ing. Having a hunger for more growth in music, the duo started writing and composing songs after completing their studies in music production. The different sounds that they picked up and the different genres of music that they learned, as well as drawing inspiration from Dub, EDM, lounge and African elements, have influenced their versatile composition.
In 2009, Infinite Boys were signed to Kalawa Jazmee Records, where they released their first studio album in 2010 titled 'The Beginning'. Since then they’ve released a remix of Nastee Nev's 'I'm So Hung Up On You' and done work with Monique Bingham, Dr Malinga, Proffessor, DBN NYTS and DJ Fisherman. Their follow up album ‘The Journey’ was released in 2013 and features the likes of DJ Tira, Mampintsha, Shota & Mina Nawe. Their current single ‘The Light’ features Madala Mathew and is taken from their highly anticipated 3rd studio album “Let The Music Do The Talking“ due in November 2017.
What drew you to Djing? Did anyone in particular inspire you?
Our love for music is Infinite and our impinging style of the sound we play/produce/perform drew us to djing. We had icons within the music sector we looked up to even still this day. The likes of Black Coffee, Oskido, Revolution, Frank Rodger, Our Close Friend Dj Clock and Infinite Boys in particular. You have to believe in yourself before looking up to someone else as inspiration.
How would you describe your evolution as a DJ and the sound you push?
Well our evolution as DJs has blossomed enthusiastically in ways that even till this day we've embarked to places we've never been, and you find people who you barely know but they know most of our music/songs and that alone serves as time frame with the music we've produced/played at various areas within South Africa and in Africa. Our sound is highly dynamic infused with African elements that ignite the soul with modern modifications to our INFINITE sound.
What kind of journey are you taking us on in with this mix?
In this mix we take you down "The Infinite Universe" where music is the voice of this sphere. The melodies vesper in the air as we glance upon the virtuosic musical notes that automatically submerge down our mental vista as we embark down to Africa to connect with the earthly ground, vibrant sound and vigorous heritage that prolongs the soul to come to life. This is not a destination but an INFINITE JOURNEY to the light.
