Rally legend returns and is coming to Switch
Classic racing series V-Rally will return in 2018 and is coming to Nintendo Switch.
It’s been over 15 years since the superb V-Rally 3 tore up the track and cemented the series’s place as one of the most realistic, comprehensive and thoroughly enjoyable racers available.
Yet despite its success, that was the last we heard of the V-Rally series – until now. French developers Kylotonn Racing Games – the team behind WRC 7 and TT Isle of Man – and publishers Bigben have announced that the revolutionary series, which first roared onto PlayStation 1 in 1997, will be returning in 2018. Not only that, but the game will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and yes, Nintendo Switch.
V-Rally 4 is set for release in September, and so far, we know that there will be 50 models of rallying and extreme motorsports vehicles for players to collect, upgrade, customise, and master. The only models that are as yet confirmed are the Porsche 911 Safari, a Ford Mustang and a Ford Fiesta RS RX.
V-Rally 3 was perhaps best-loved for its fantastic career mode, and the next instalment of the series will see this return, while also introducing an Online mode for racers to get stuck into. In-fact, the series always impressed with its wealth of game modes, and V-Rally 4 looks to be no different.
Rally mode offers tracks from Africa to Sequoia Park and Japan, while Extreme-Khana tests your precision and drifting skills. In V-Rally Cross mode you can take on experts in dirt/asphalt tracks, while Buggy mode tests your wits, and reactions, in an all-terrain vehicle. Finally, Hillclimb is just that – a race to the top.
Headed up by Alain Jarniou, Game Director at Kylotonn, who worked as a programmer on the last entry in the series, it seems that V-Rally 4 is looking to honour these classic titles while making the most of next-gen technology. With 2018 already set to be an incredible year for racing titles, the return of V-Rally has us excited to hop back in the driver’s seat once again.
V-Rally 4 is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC in September 2018.
