With FIFA 20 set to release later this September, we’re approaching the latter stages of FIFA 19 Ultimate Team’s lifecycle. And by now, the vast majority (if not all) of FUT 19’s highest-rated items have been unveiled, allowing you to focus on acquiring the best players the game has to offer.
But who are those players? And which version of their FUT items should you go for? We’ve put together an XI that boasts the highest-rated items for each position, complete with attribute info and price estimates. Happy bidding!

GK: David de Gea (Man Utd)

TOTY de Gea is rated six points higher than his standard version

  • Version: Team of the Year
  • Overall rating: 97
The Man Utd and Spain keeper became the highest-rated GK in FIFA 19 Ultimate Team following his Team of the Year item in January. The 97-rated item packs a variety of incredible stats, including 98 reflexes and 97 diving, while his kicking, positioning and handling are all in the 90s as well. Despite his outstandingly high stats, de Gea’s TOTY item isn’t all that expensive to acquire on the market, costing around 800k coins at present.

Red Bull Energy Drink is appreciated worldwide by top athletes, busy professionals, university students and travellers on long journeys.

Notable mention: Gianluigi Donnarumma (TOTS, 95)

RB: Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich)

  • Version: Team of the Season
  • Overall rating: 95
Even though he’s the top-rated right-back in all of FUT 19, Germany star Joshua Kimmich remains largely inexpensive on the transfer market. Why? It’s because of his pace, which clocks in at the respectable, but not overly impressive 85 mark. You'll only need to pay around 175k on the market as a result, but for the price, you’ll be getting a Bundesliga superstar with 99-rated attributes in crossing, stamina and short passing.

Notable mention: Kenny Lala (TOTS, 94)

CB: Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)

There are multiple 96-rated centre-backs at this point in FUT 19’s lifespan, but Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk particularly stands out. Both the Team of the Season and PFA Player of the Year versions share the same stats, which include a 99 in strength, jumping, standing tackle, composure, reactions, long passing and shot power. The POTY version was only made available in a special SBC, but you can get the TOTS version for around 1.2m coins.
Notable mention: Raphaël Varane (TOTS, 96)

CB: Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid)

  • Version: Team of the Year
  • Overall rating: 97
The best centre-back in FUT 19 is the Team of the Year version of Sergio Ramos. The Real Madrid legend sports an overall rating of 97, and in return for the hefty market price of 1.5m coins, you’ll benefit from an outstanding defensive presence, with 99 ratings in standing tackle, jumping, reactions, ball control and shot power. There are very few weaknesses to Ramos’ game, even in regards to dribbling and shooting.
Notable mention: Kalidou Koulibaly (TOTS, 96)

LB: Marcelo (Real Madrid)

Real Madrid’s left-back has been a mainstay in many pro players’ teams for the past six months due to his outstanding defensive and dribbling skills. The talented Brazilian excels in pretty much every area, with many stats in the high 90s, while his five-star skills and four-star weak foot make him a constant threat in attacking areas. Expect to pay in the region of 600-700k for Marcelo – a bargain for La Liga based sides in particular.
Notable mention: Jordi Alba (TOTS, 94)

CDM: N’Golo Kanté (Chelsea)

  • Version: Team of the Year
  • Overall rating: 96
The CDM role isn’t packed with many extremely high-rated items in FUT 19, but Team of the Year N’Golo Kanté proves a notable exception. You’re looking at around 1.6m coins to get hold of the Chelsea star, who proves menacingly tough in midfield due to his 99 interceptions, 99 marking and 99 standing tackle attributes. Kanté can even be converted into a CM if required, where his high passing, dribbling and shooting stats prove effective.
Notable mention: Frenkie de Jong (TOTS, 95)

CM: Luka Modrić (Real Madrid)

  • Version: Team of the Year
  • Overall rating: 99
Our first 99-rated player arrives in the form of Croatia star Luka Modrić. 22 of the Real Madrid player’s Team of the Year stats are rated in the 90s, with 99s being awarded to agility, balance, ball control, long shots, penalties, interceptions, standing tackle, vision, short passing and stamina. He’s suitably expensive (and sometimes rare) to acquire on the market, costing around 2.5m coins on Xbox One and 3.5m on PS4 at present.
Notable mention: Houssem Aouar (TOTS, 95)

CAM: Pelé (Icons)

  • Version: Prime Icon Moments
  • Overall rating: 99
It’s not all Team of the Year/Season players! The top-rated Icon in all of FUT 19 is the Prime Moments version of Pelé. This 99-rated version of the Brazilian legend is a CAM (his 91 and 95 versions are CFs), and comes packed with incredible finishing, passing and dribbling stats. Icons are typically expensive to acquire in FUT 19, and this item is no exception – you'll need to save around 6m coins to acquire Prime Moments Pelé.
Notable mention: Diego Maradona (Prime Icon Moments, 98)

RW: Lionel Messi (Barcelona)

TOTS Messi in FUT 19

99 pace, 99 shooting, 99 dribbling – TOTS Lionel Messi has it all

© EA Sports

  • Version: Team of the Season
  • Overall rating: 99
You can take your pick with Lionel Messi. The Barcelona star has three 99-rated items in FUT 19, spanning Team of the Year (CF), Team of the Season (RW) and UCL Team of the Tournament (RW) versions. The best of the three is arguably the TOTS item, which boosts the Argentinian’s overall pace to 99, and also includes overalls of 99 in shooting and dribbling. This version of Messi is currently going for around 2.5m coins on the transfer market.
Notable mention: Kylian Mbappé (TOTY, 97)

LW: Eden Hazard (Chelsea)

  • Version: Team of the Season
  • Overall rating: 98
The English Premier League’s top-rated FUT 19 item is the Team of the Season version of now ex-Chelsea star, Eden Hazard. Again, the majority of Hazard’s stats land in the high 90s, with 99s including acceleration, agility, balance, ball control, dribbling, positioning, finishing and short passing. You’ll also get 4-star skill moves and weak foot abilities out of the recent Real Madrid signing, who typically sells for around 2.5-3m coins.
Notable mention: Neymar Jr (TOTY, 97)

ST: Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus)

He's expensive, but TOTY Ronaldo will score bags of goals for any team

FIFA 19‘s cover star is arguably the most sought-after player in all of Ultimate Team, and his Team of the Year item remains utterly dominant. It continues to sell for well over 7m coins on the market, making it the most expensive item on this list, and does so due to its incredible shooting and dribbling abilities in particular. Ronaldo’s TOTY and TOTS items are both 99-rated, and will score hatfuls of goals in FUT Champions and beyond.
Notable mention: Robert Lewandowski (TOTS, 98)
So there you have it – our best FIFA Ultimate Team XI. It'll only set you back around 28 million. No problem, right?!
