If you’re still learning the ways of the force like Cal Kestis in the recently released Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, you’ll need to be at one with your iconic lightsaber.
Here is a complete lightsaber guide to get you started on your Jedi journey across the galaxy. From parrying attacks to unlocking the dual-bladed saber or finding brand-new parts, you’ll soon be at one with the force if you follow this comprehensive Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order lightsaber guide.

It can be easy to fall into the trap of whirling your lightsaber about, hitting everything in your wake, but with a little bit of patience and discipline, you should be able to find that your lightsaber is a lot more effective when you’re just a bit more patient.
To parry an attack, tap the block button right before you get hit and the enemy will fall into a staggered state, then quickly tap your attack button in order to parry a hit. This works well enough for almost every single attack in the game, bar unblockables, which you will be able to tell apart due to the fact that any enemy will start glowing red.
Doing this against blaster attacks can also deflect the shots back at stormtroopers. You’re also able to deflect barrages of blaster attacks. If you walk into a room with several troopers, headed by a commander, they’ll fire upon a signal, and if you parry at just the right time, Cal will use some of that secret Jedi sauce to parry back every single shot, even if you just attempted to parry the first one.
It definitely pays to work through levels slowly and employ this tactic, when you’re able to see the small squadron of troopers.

How to find the dual-bladed lightsaber

To find the dual-bladed lightsaber early on in the game, you need to venture to Dathomir immediately after completing Borgano. If you clear out the entire area and manage to push your way past the difficult enemies, you will come across a hooded man. Try to take a jump across and fall. Turn back, and follow the path until you come across a work table. Here, you will be able to find the dual-bladed lightsaber.
However, it can also be found late on in the game, and also on Borgano after you’ve acquired the force push ability on Zeffo. However the quickest way to attain it is to just immediately head to Dathomir as soon as you get the ability to warp between planets. It’s a tough road to it, but absolutely worth it.

How to use the dual-bladed lightsaber

Once you’ve attained the dual-bladed lightsaber, you’ll be keen to use it, just press right on the d-pad when you want to switch to the dual-bladed mode and you’ll soon be whirling around like Darth Maul.
However, the dual-bladed lightsaber does have its downsides. It won’t be doing you many favours against bosses or single enemies, but is incredibly effective against a group of enemies, or those small creatures that seem to never want to go away.
You actually unlock a completely different moveset with the dual-bladed saber, and should only be using it in situations where you’re up against a group, or want to quickly stagger enemies with a multitude of hits. Unlocking the delay combo on the skill tree helps out with this somewhat, and will definitely come in handy.
Ultimately, usage of this version of the lightsaber is completely optional, but incredibly useful if you know when to use it.

Where to find lightsaber parts

If you’ve been exploring the planets of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, you’ll quickly find that lightsaber parts are some of the most common pieces of loot that you’ll find. But that’s not to say that they’re easy to come by.
More often than not, parts for your lightsaber are hidden away in difficult to find nooks and crannies that you’ll either have to ingeniously traverse through, or solve some kind of puzzle to access. The cooler the lightsaber part, the more difficult it will be to find.
For the completionists out there, there’s at least one brand new “set” of lightsaber parts per planet, and there are often more hidden away for you to complete. No doubt the list of parts is endless, so be sure to check your maps often and crawl through previous levels if you’ve not got a complete set of parts just yet.

How to customise your lightsaber

Lightsaber customisation is a purely cosmetic endeavour in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, but one that allows you to live the fantasy of being a Jedi, customising their own lightsaber, from hilt, to the wrapping to the colour.
In order to do this, just head back to the ship on any planet, and walk over to the lightsaber customisation bench. Here, you’ll be able to find a complete list of the parts that you have found across the world, and start to assemble your own lightsaber.
It can be a pain to understand how certain parts work, especially if you’re aiming for a certain look to your lightsaber, so be sure to play around with the different parts and colours to get exactly what you want, and if you want to find more parts, just head over to the nearest unexplored planet to grab more. This way, you’ll be able to unlock and modify your lightsaber to your heart’s content.
Just be aware that once you attain the dual-bladed lightsaber, it’s pretty much impossible to revert that cosmetic change, it will always have two emitters, which doesn’t always follow perfect symmetry when you’re building the lightsaber. Be aware of the dual-bladed saber if you’re going in for the full role-playing experience and don’t want a second emitter!

How to unlock different colours for your lightsaber

When you start out in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, you’ll only have access to two lightsaber colours, blue and green. If you pre-ordered the game, you’ll have access to the orange blade early on.
But, if you’re wanting a bit more of a personal flair, you will be able to unlock other colours such as purple, cyan, and yellow once you find the Kyber Crystal on the planet Ilum. This is completely unmissable, but is only accessible once you’ve made your way through most of the game.
Unfortunately for those more attuned to the dark side of the force, there is no option for a red lightsaber.
