Dropping into the Apex arena? We've got you covered. These are the weapons you should look out for.
If you’re looking to maximise your rank and rewards before the end of Apex Legends Season 24, you’ll want to know which weapons to look for as soon as you land. This season brought huge changes to player health and weapon power, shaking up the meta in significant ways.
Most weapons received big buffs, somewhat levelling the playing field, so there’s no shortage of powerful hardware to play with. There are still some sizeable disparities between the high and low-tier weapons, however. This is our current Apex Legends tier list, based on player sentiment and insights from seasoned Apex pros
01
S Tier
Nemesis Burst AR
This assault rifle has been the top dog since its introduction, dealing unbeatable damage at mid-to-close range. Its rate-of-fire wind-up takes some getting used to, but once you master it, you’ll be unstoppable.
G7 Scout
This marksman rifle has benefited from a big damage buff, which makes its headshots something to fear. It also benefits from using light ammo, which is easier to come by than other ammo types.
EVA-08 Shotgun
If you need to get close to enemies, weaving between shields and escaping smoke clouds, the EVA-08 is an essential secondary weapon. It’s high-rate of fire and strong damage output, makes it the top choice at close range.
R-99 SMG
If you’re not a shotgun player, the R-99 is one of the best close-range guns in the game, owing to its rapid fire rate and mobility. Even after a slight damage nerf, it remains the best SMG in Apex.
L-Star EMG
This souped-up energy gun is incredibly powerful in Season 24, after its damage was increased from 18 to 20. The only drawback is its overheat, which requires good timing to manage. iiTzTimmy has been known to go on rampages with this gun. “As soon as I got the L-Star, I just ran everyone down,” he said after an 18-kill match
02
A Tier
Rampage LMG
The slow-firing LMG got a huge buff, this season, making it one of the most formidable guns in the game. Its huge mag size makes it capable of ruining teams in a snap.
Volt SMG
The Volt’s damage buffs make it one of the best SMGs for all stages of the game. If you can manage its recoil and scarce energy ammo, you can rule teamfights with this weapon. iiTzTimmy agrees, saying: “The Volt and Mastiff feel significantly better in the current meta.”
VK-47 Flatline
The Flatline is a dependable assault rifle which is effective at distance as well as in close-range fights. Be wary of its recoil though, as this weapon is fairly heavy-duty.
Mastiff Shotgun
The Mastiff is a high-powered shotgun that can rip through enemies at close range. It’s smaller mag makes it a more intentional weapon than the EVA-08, which just edges it out in terms of viability.
Kraber .50-Cal Sniper
This bolt-action sniper rifle can wreck enemies with a single shot, even if they’re equipped with high-tier armour. Its only drawback is the lack of ammo, as this gun uses Mythic Sniper Ammo.
Peacekeeper
This rare shotgun can annihilate enemies at close range but can also deal absurd damage at long range too, thanks to its choke function.
C.A.R. SMG
This SMG can’t match the time-to-kill of the R-99, but it is still strong in close-range fights. It’s also versatile - compatible with both light and heavy ammo.
Bocek Compound Bow
If you find this mythical bow in a care package, it’s definitely worth picking up, as it deals impressive damage. It can be a little tricky to use though, with a slow rate-of-fire and ammo scarcity.
Wingman
This hard-hitting handcannon can now equip extended sniper magazines, giving it devastating potential as a sidearm.
Hemlok Burst AR
The ability to switch between a long-range single shot and a closer range automatic fire mode makes the Hemlok one of the most versatile weapons in Apex.
30-30 Repeater
This single-shot marksman rifle is a dependable damage-dealer, which can become a powerhouse with the right attachments. ImperialHal has noted that this weapon is underrated, as its seldom used by most players.
Sentinel
The Sentinel is a devastating sniper rifle, especially when amped with a shield cell. Even without upgrades, it’s a heavy-hitter in the early game, capable of downing enemies with a single shot.
03
B Tier
Alternator SMG
While it doesn’t pack the same punch as its rival light SMG, the R-99, the Alternator is still a solid choice for beginners. It’s easy to control and has a solid base mag, making it decent in the early game.
Triple Take
What the Triple Take lacks in power, it makes up for in usability. Its three-shot spread makes it easier for beginners to nail fast-moving enemies.
M600 Spitfire
The Spitfire is a solid gun, but doesn’t hit as hard as other LMGs, and doesn’t possess the versatility of assault rifles.
Havoc Rifle
The Havoc is one of the less useful Care Package weapons, due to its long spin-up. With that said, it's still a powerhouse, so consider grabbing it if you come across it.
Longbow DMR
While not quite as powerful as the Sentinel, the Longbow benefits from quick fire rate, allowing you to down enemies with one mag, even if your first shots miss. iiTzTimmy frequently uses the Longbow to poke enemies from a distance, baiting them into closer engagements.
04
C Tier
Devotion LMG
This light machine gun still has great damage potential, but its heaviness makes it awkward to use in frantic fights.
Prowler Burst PDW
The Prowler deals decent damage but suffers from a very small base mag.
05
D Tier
Charge Rifle
The Charge Rifle packs massive damage per shot, but it’s painfully long wind-up makes it functionally useless in all but a few very specific scenarios.
RE-45 Auto
The RE-45 simply doesn’t do enough damage to compete with other short-range weapons and is only really useful for its fast swap-to speed.
06
Bottom Tier
Mozambique Shotgun
This handheld shotgun has fluctuated in viability over the years, but right now, it just isn’t powerful enough, even after its damage per pellet was increased to 16.
P2020
The much-maligned pistol has had a damage buff this season, but is still relatively weak. This, coupled with its slow fire rate, makes it a placeholder weapon at best. Both the P2020 and Mozambique can be improved if wielded akimbo, however
