The race start is at 8:00AM on March 16, 2024.

Is there an admission fee for spectators?

There is no admission fee for spectators.

Where can I park my vehicle if I want to come and watch?

There is no parking at the immediate event area, but there is parking offsite in the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area (ISDRA) at several camping sites. Vehicle permits are required when visiting the ISDRA and its 1-mile planning area boundary. One permit is needed per primary vehicle. A primary vehicle is any street-legal vehicle used for transportation to the recreation site. NOTE: There is no shuttle service from the ISDRA camping areas to the event site.

Can I just park my vehicle along the highway next to the dunes to watch?

There is NO PARKING along the shoulder of Highway 78 bordering the ISDRA dunes.

Where can I purchase a permit?

Save time and money by purchasing your permit online or at one of the multiple locations prior to arriving at the Imperial Sand Dunes. For each seasonal or Weekly permit purchased online you may purchase a second weekly permit for just $35.00.

Can I just purchase a pass to watch for one day?

Only seasonal or weekly permits are available.

Do I need to purchase a pass if I am a participant?

Yes, ALL visitors to the ISDRA are required to have a vehicle permit from October 1 through April 15 each year.

Will there be separate parking for my trailer with my SxS and equipment?

There is NO designated pit parking for participants or spectators. You will need to plan your trip as if you were going to spend a weekend in the dunes on your own. There is plentiful parking in the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area (ISDRA) at several camping sites. Vehicle permits are required when visiting the ISDRA and its 1-mile planning area boundary. One permit is needed per primary vehicle. A primary vehicle is any street-legal vehicle used for transportation to the recreation site.

Prizes TBD for now.

Will my vehicle need to be approved to race?

Yes, All UTVs will need to be pre-approved before racing. All vehicles must pass general safety requirements and will be approved by the Sand Scramble UTV Technical Inspector. Inspection will occur in a to-be-announced timing window on Friday, December 9th. See information about all vehicle and race requirements here.

Will there be any practice time?

No, there will not be any practice.

Is camping available on site?

Yes, there are many places to camp within the ISDRA. Please refer to the Bureau of Land Management website for more information here.
