What would Easter Sunday be without 500 crazy skiers and snowboarders hurling themselves down Åreskutan in hope to win everlasting glory at Red Bull Homerun? For the 14th time the carnage returns to Åre on April 20th.
As always, there is some very important structure to the madness, so make sure you know what's up by checking out the info, vital rules and a couple of how-to's below.
01

What actually is Red Bull Homerun?

Is it your first time tackling Red Bull Homerun? Then there are a few things you probably should know about. The race begins with a masstart run. All competitors are lined up side-by-side and, once the start signal sounds, sprint across a field full of snow obstacles to their skis or board. Then it's time to strap into your gear and set off down the marked route: a mix of steep pistes, high-speed corners as well as flatter cat track sections. The race finishes once you've passed through the Red Bull arch at the bottom by Timmerstugan.

You want to be at the afterparty

Timmerstugan is where the afterparty is going down. Participants from the race can cruise right in after finishing the race. However, if you're not wearing a vest and wristband keep in mind that you're going to have to be early on sight to secure your entry to the party. We won't further dwell on why you need to be on time; you'll understand why once you get there.
After Timmerstugan, you can keep the party going well into the evening by heading over to Verandan. You have free entry with your wrist band until 23:30, but it is subject to space.

What happened at Red Bull Homerun last year?

Last year, 500 racers defied all sense and manners as they hunted each other down the mountain to try to cross the famous finish line arch first. Although the weather was a a bit gloomy, forcing the start to be held mid-way down, the mountain side was lit up by a colourful myriad of outfits and huge vibes. As always, racers were fast and the fancy dress on point.

What do you want to be when you're older? A ski lift of course!

Emil Nyberg was the fastest person down the mountain, finishing a goosebump-worthy 0.69 seconds ahead of Atle Wallin in the men's ski category. In the other categories things didn't get quite as heated, with Isabel Sjölin, Hjalle Grönberg and Louise Viklund all taking their wins by a strong margin. As for Best Outfit, it was definitely one to go down in the history books. Marcus Ahlström, Alexander Rydén, Victor Styrman, William Larsson, Elin Arshi, Sara Nyman, Jimmy Bagge and Linnea Johansson pulled it out of the bag dressed up as a ski lift.
