Red Bull has consciously chosen aluminum as primary packaging.

The most recycled beverage container

Globally, aluminum beverage cans lead the way in recycling, with more than 70% being recycled into new products—surpassing other beverage packaging such as PET or glass bottles.

This is one reason why 75% of all aluminium ever produced, is still in use today. Circularity is key.

A permanent material

Aluminum’s unique characteristics enable it to be recycled repeatedly without losing quality, supporting well functioning closed-loop systems, such as transforming used beverage cans into new ones within 60 days.

Sometimes described as a "permanent material", aluminum's recyclability can minimizes the need to mine and process virgin materials, thus saving substantial amounts of energy and water.

Red Bull is a member of the Aluminum Stewardship Initiative (ASI). ASI’s mission is to recognize and collaboratively foster the responsible production, sourcing, and stewardship of aluminum. Since 2025, Red Bull exclusively sources ASI Aluminum for its beverage cans.

CIRCULAR ECONOMY

By 2030, it is projected that 42% of the aluminum used globally will come from recycled sources. This shift to greater recycling will significantly reduce the need for primary aluminium production.

Ready to stay in the loop

Deposit Return Schemes (DRS) play a key role in this process by improving the collection and recycling rates of aluminum beverage cans, ensuring that more material is returned to the closed-loop system.

Red Bull supports the increased global collection of aluminum cans, such as through well-designed DRS, to increase recycling rates and keep aluminum cans within a closed-loop circular economy.

Red Bull is committed to net-zero emissions by 2040 in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

Red Bull is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions across our operations and supply chain in alignment with our Science Based Targets (SBTi). To achieve this, we have implemented a comprehensive roadmap, aligned with the Paris Agreement, as part of the SBTi verification process. This roadmap outlines our efforts to minimize environmental impacts, with near-term targets to reduce emissions by 2030 and a long-term goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2040.
