Why?
  • Simply to answer the age-old question: which streamer is the best CS:GO player?
Battle of the Streamers is a tournament concept invented by Fredrik “slop3” Wahlstedt two years ago, and is a 5 vs 5 CS:GO tournament in which Swedish streamers, and their teams, get to challenge one another find out who the best player is. At EWKND we set up a pop-up version of the format, where four teams got to compete for eternal glory.

First out in the tournament was Team MajPaj, set to battle it out with Team Orb. While Team Orb motivated themselves by raising their voices.

At the arena, Metro Live STUDIO streamed the tournament, with Kim "DraySWE" Larsson and Mats "Blewd" Nilsson acting as expert commentators.
The match began, and Team Orb started out strong, winning the first two rounds. But pretty soon, the two teams became evenly matched: at the mid-game break, the score was 9-6 in favor of Team Orb.

Once back in the fight, Team MajPaj turned the tide and claimed the lead with 11-10 winning rounds. Unfortunately for the MajPaj, the luck didn’t last. After 28 back-and-forth rounds, Team Orb proved that the early upper hand was not just a fluke, and secured the first win and a place in the finals of Battle of the Streamers. The match MVP? Team Orb’s ‘Dropq’, according to the commentators!

Next-up? Team RoxyProxxy vs Team slop3!

From the get-go, Team RoxyProxxy showed that they were not there just to have fun. They dominated the match, ending it early with 16-2, securing their spot in the finals.
Before the finals, we got to pick Orb’s mind, and his verdict was clear:

Finally, it was time for the big finale – Team Orb vs Team RoxyProxxy. The map for the match was Nuke, and fittingly it started off with a bang! Orb won a tough round of rock–paper–scissors and got to choose starting side; he picked CT. That may have been a miscalculation, as his team were outmatched 12-3 in round 15. Things were looking dire for Team Orb.

The stronger team maintained their momentum, and Team RoxyProxxy ended it all with a 16-3 win – an impressive performance all throughout the tournament, and great comeback for Roxy, as her team did not make it through to the finals last year. Roxy, whose full name is Roxanne Janevret, was humble in victory however, as she shared her thought on the tournament with us:

I love gaming events like this! It’s a great opportunity to meet and play with all the people you normally only get to hang out with online.
