First added to the VALORANT map rotation in 2021, Fracture is one of the most unique playgrounds in Riot's tactical hero shooter. Given its multi-layered structure, it can be difficult for players to grasp its nuances, especially if you're new to the game. To make things a little easier for you, we've broken it down with tips, tricks, callouts and suggested agent picks. Let's take a look at how to crack Fracture.
01

Fracture map overview

This top-secret research facility is the epicentre of a failed radianite experiment, which has left its high-tech halls rusted and derelict. As a result of the destruction, the facility has become overgrown with local flora, lending it a look that's an interesting fusion of technology and nature. A major feature of this map is its ziplines, which allow you to traverse the map quickly and, crucially, silently.
Fracture has a circular layout, which some fans have pointed out resembles a Pokéball. It has two bomb sites, on the east and west sides, connected with a bridge-like lane. Attackers can spawn on both sides, allowing them to launch a pincer move on defenders. As such, coordinating with your team-mates is imperative, as it's easy to become scattered when team fights break out. Attackers can use this to their advantage with split pushes, using controller agents to force defenders into choke points.

Fracture map's best agents

Controller: Brimstone

Fracture has many choke points, making Brimstone the obvious Controller choice on this map. His three Sky Smokes, which last longer than other Controller's smokes, will help you launch attacks or stall pushes. Brimstone’s devastating ultimate is also invaluable on Fracture, due to its small plant spots. A well-placed Orbital Strike can completely clear a site, allowing you to halt an attack or deny a defuse.

Sentinel: Skye

Skye is a valuable choice, especially on defense, due to her information-gathering X-Seekers. These can help you identify which routes attackers are taking and catch them out if they're using a distraction tactic. Her area-of-effect heal can also help sustain drawn-out fights. Finally, her guiding light flashes can reach around corners and stun enemies taking shots from tricky angles.

Duellist: Raze

Raze is a popular duellist across the board, but works especially well on Fracture thanks to her Boom Bot, which can flush opponents out of corners. Her Blast Packs also prove extremely useful, allowing her to access unexpected angles. Her ultimate, Showstopper, is handy for attacking tight plant sites or clearing hard-to-reach areas like A Tower or B Tower.

Initiator: Breach

Breach's utility makes him a must-pick agent on Fracture, with his Fault Line and Aftershock abilities allowing him to deal AOE damage in narrow spaces. These abilities are also effective at retaking plant points or keeping defenders at bay. His Flashpoint ability also allows him to access enemies hidden behind walls – that’s not even to mention the devastating retake power of his ultimate, Rolling Thunder.

Fracture map tips and tricks

Tip 1: Zip to victory

Fracture's most unique and useful feature is its ziplines. Running through the centre of the map, these carefully placed links allow you to quickly get from site A to B and, even more crucially, in silence. This is a great way to distract your enemy – make noise near one site to bait out defenders, before zipping to the other site to launch your coordinated assault. You can also use ziplines to retreat and reposition if a fight isn't going your way. Don’t be shy about using them, ziplines do leave you vulnerable for a few seconds, but the benefits far outweigh the risks.

Tip 2: Use information agents

To counter sneaky zipliners, make use of information agents to reveal your enemy's position. Sova's Recon Bolt can instantly reveal the location of enemies, so it is great for use on the fly. Similarly, you can place Cypher’s Spycam in popular callout spots like A Door or B Tower and feed the information back to your team. Utilising these agents in conjunction with good communication will more often than not give you a huge edge in ranked play.

Tip 3: Try aggressive retakes

Attackers can often be left vulnerable after planting, so if you can't defend against the rush, hang back and focus on retakes. One great tactic is to use Brimstone's ult to knock up enemies and then clean up with using your duellist’s utility.
